Rousseau Classic RC Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece, RC4 Overview
The Rousseau Classic RC alto sax mouthpiece is Rousseau's most recent mouthpiece. Based on the popular R and NC series, the Classic RC alto mouthpiece is a classical performance mouthpiece with some alternative performance and tonal features.
Everything about the Rousseau Classic RC mouthpiece has been designed for classical playing. The newly reshaped sidewalls and baffle produce a broad dynamic range with a terrific response, as well as a distinctively improved lower register.
Each and every Rousseau mouthpiece is 100 made in America. Once completed, the baffles and tip rails are expertly hand-finished by saxophone specialists at the JodyJazz factory. Each mouthpiece is then play tested to ensure perfection.

Thanks to Rousseau's great knowledge of mouthpieces, he's been able to design this beautifully rounded mouthpiece. No matter if you're an entry-level player, university professor, aspiring student, or touring professional, the Rousseau Classic RC alto mouthpiece will always radiate a beautifully sweet tone.
Just like all Rousseau mouthpieces, the RC has a fantastic dynamic range. The low register has been opened up, while also maintaining an even response across the register - something other mouthpieces struggle to do. If you're a properly trained player, you will soon notice the vast array of tonal colours that the RC has to offer.
The Rousseau design
The Rousseau design all started when Dr Rousseau couldn't find a good enough commercial mouthpiece to recommend to his students - so he made his own! Rousseau actually learned about woodwind design and acoustics from one of the finest acousticians since Adolph Sax - Charles Houvenaghel. Heavily inspired by the mouthpiece that Marcel Mule gave him in 1961, Rousseau finally launched the famous "R" series of mouthpieces - Rousseau's best selling range.
About Rousseau
Chicago born and bred, Eugene Rousseau is known as one of the finest saxophone players around. So good in fact, Rousseau was a chief consultant for Yamaha's saxophone research team, continuously contributing to the development of their instruments and mouthpieces. Rousseau has had the pleasure of completing many musical firsts, such as the first-ever solo saxophone recitals in Paris, Berlin, Vienna, London, and Amsterdam. Even saxophone legend Marcel Mule described Rousseau as "a brilliant saxophonist and distinguished artist".
In 2019 Rousseau contacted Jody Espina at JodyJazz Mouthpieces asking if he would be interested in acquiring Rousseau Mouthpieces. Without hesitation, Jody jumped at the opportunity, and at the start of 2020 the acquisition was made official. This means every Rousseau mouthpiece goes through JodyJazz's rigorous quality control, hand-finished process, and playtest. So now you can enjoy the ingenious designs from Rousseau, and know each and every mouthpiece has been manufactured to the highest possible quality.
