The Kuassa EVE-MP5 is an EQ plug-in that consists of two legendary hardware passive EQs in one intuitive and compact interface. Comprised of two EQ plug-ins in one, you can target specific frequency ranges split into three sections, mid-range, low and high. Particularly useful for low-end instruments such as bass drum and electric bass guitar, the EVE-MP5 allows you to utilise the famous trick of boosting and attenuating the same frequency for a tight and massive low-end. For added analog simulation, the EVE-MP5 features a power amp saturation on the input stage with automatic gain compensation to maintain volume levels when turning it up. Much like traditional passive EQ's, the EVE-MP5 is ideal for mixing instruments or full instrument busses with lots of low-end such as kick drums, bass guitar or synthesizers. The secret is in the two shelves, one which boosts, whilst the other attenuates at a slightly higher frequency. This combination allows you to boost the fundamentals of your instrument whilst removing some of the upper harmonics in the upper bass/lower midrange that can lead to congested and 'boxy' sounding audio. The inclusion of the shelf frequency control allows you to dial this in to perfection for your chosen application, ensuring you can boost the right amount of punch without over-cooking the subs. To tidy up the lower-end region of your tracks, the included high-pass frequency dial lets you carve out any boosted low-end as a result of the shelf to maintain a clean and tight sound.
Similar in function to the low-end, the midrange and high frequencies also make use of a dual-filter approach to sculpt and shape your tone. A variable-width peak filter lets you set the Q-factor of the range of frequencies that you are affecting, whilst a gain dial can be set to either boost or attenuate for a wide range of functions. Of course, the peak frequency can be adjusted to find the sweet spot for the instrument or buss within your mix. The interaction between the gain boost or attenuation and the width dial creates a unique experience that you simply don't get from precise digital EQ plugins. The warmth and smoothness is prominent, helping to tame harsh high frequencies in distorted guitars, vocals or even cymbals or to remove honky and overpowering midrange from drum shells, synthesizers or acoustic guitars.
