The TG2 incorporates the same discrete transformer-balanced amps as the TG series limiter. A small rise in its high frequency response, along with some warmth-inducing distortion contribute to its unique, punchy sound. The sound of the EMI TG12428 mic preamp was used on many famous recordings at Abbey Road including The Beatles and Pink Floyd. The amplifiers were also used in many EMI circuits of the time. The TG2 has been remade from original design notes and circuit board drawings provided by Abbey Road and EMI to ensure extreme authenticity.
The Chandler TG2 Abbey Road Special Edition is designed for exceptional audio quality for both direct input and microphone inputs. Utilising the discrete transformer-balanced amplifiers to produce the warm tone with clear high and thick lows. Designed to give you the vintage feel and sound, The TG2 features input ranges from +5dB to +75dB in 15 steps for optimal versatility. The channel output gain control allows you to run the input gain for added colour and warmth. The design and construction based from the original EMI TG12328 Preamp ensures a vintage sound combined with modern innovations, perfect for capturing studio-quality vocals as well as recording high-level instruments such as electric guitars. Additionally the TG2 features built-in Phantom Power which allows you to connect and capture high-quality recordings from condenser microphones.
The simply yet ergonomic layout of the Chandler TG2 ensures you can easily make changes to controls and parameters on the fly. The front panel includes Gain and Output dial controls for both channels as well as Phantom Power and DI switches to enable the selectable functions. The military-grade construction ensures the TG2 will stand the test of time, with its highly durable all-metal chassis taking up a single unit space within a rack. A summing switch is also included on the front panel which allows you to mix both preamps utilising the TG2’s discrete circuitry for a minimal signal path. The two hi-z front panel inputs allow you to easily connect line instruments such as electric guitars and more, while the rear-panel XLR inputs allow you to connect both dynamic and condenser microphones.
