Modular design
The modules are easy to install and switch out, so you can continually customise your instrument depending on your needs. Each module on the Legend 70's Piano uses its own individual sound generation system, custom-designed to faithfully recreate its soundset. Because these modules essentially work in parallel, there are no issues with processor sharing and reduced polyphony when multiple modules are used simultaneously.
Viscount have a wide range of modules available for their Legend 70's Pianos, including a polyphonic synthesizer and a powerful, functionality-expanding MIDI terminal module. What's more, they're constantly coming up with new ideas, so there's an ever-expanding selection of modules to choose from. On top of this, the free Legend 70's Editor application which comes included allows for in-depth real-time adjustment of many modules and sounds.
Physical modelling
Instead of sampling, the included E. Piano and Clavinet modules utilise physical modelling technology by Physis for their sound generation. Physical modelling is the mathematical simulation of a real object - in this case, the strings of an electric piano. The model takes an input (the note input from the keyboard) and simulates the way the string would react to that hammer impact. Compared to sampling, which uses a limited number of pre-recorded samples to respond to a practically infinite combination of inputs, physical modelling can simulate an infinite combination of outputs.
This is especially noticeable on repeated notes. Just as with a real piano string, the physically modelled strings will continue to vibrate after being played. When the hammer strikes an already vibrating string, it will result in a subtly different sound from the first note. This is a phenomenon that sampling simply cannot reproduce, whereas physical modelling does so perfectly. The result is a highly authentic-sounding electric piano module, which feels completely natural to play.
Vintage aesthetic
The Viscount Legend 70's Piano has a stand-out look, based on the classic electric pianos which inspired it. This piano is a true tribute to those timeless pianos of yesteryear, perfect for anyone looking to capture the charm of a vintage instrument - with all of the reliability and functionality of a modern digital piano. Viscount made a point of giving the Legend 70's Pianos flat tops, so that users can cover it with all of the synthesizers, drum machines, pedal-boards and laptops that they desire.
Fully featured
Full to the brim with effects and features, the Viscount Legend '70s Piano will meet the needs of any modern performer. With two insert effects which can be used in series or parallel, featuring tremolo, chorus, phaser, wah, delay, and much more - the options for dialling in your perfect sound are practically limitless. There is also a wide selection of reverbs as well as a three-band master EQ.
Whether you're taking to the stage or the studio, this piano comes with a full suite of connections to meet your needs. There's a bank of pedal connections for sustain, programme selection, continuous control, and USB and 5-pin MIDI connectors. You can connect to a PA and an amp simultaneously with two lots of AUDIO OUT slots, and there is an easily accessible headphone jack on the front for silent practice.
