Walrus Audio Iron Horse V2 High Gain Distortion Pedal Overview
The Walrus Audio Iron Horse V2 is a gain distortion pedal that delivers that classic Iron Horse distortion tone with some brand-new features. With the tick, rich, powerful tone boasted by the original Iron Horse, the V2 has acquired some updates which enable additional control, so you can get creative with some even more brutal sounds. Unity gain is now much easier to dial in on the level control, whilst the tone control has more treble on tap.
In addition to these two control tweaks, the distortion control's range has also been smoothed out, giving you much greater access to lower gain tones. The Galaxy Gold finish, with intricate black ink artwork by illustrator Adam Forster, is not only incredibly striking, but also accurately represents the rugged and durable physical nature of the pedal itself. Perfect for thick, creamy rhythms or high-gain solos that seek to slice through the mix, the Iron Horse V2 is a worthwhile addition to any pedalboard.

Roadworthy chassis
As will all pedals from Walrus Audio, the Iron Horse V2 Distortion is complete with a diecast chassis that is built for life on the road. Its durable enclosure features incredible artwork from renowned illustrator Adam Forster, depicting a new battle-ready stallion cloaked in armour. The Galaxy Gold finish makes the imagery stand out beautifully, showing exceptional detail in the black ink design. The build quality of this pedal is industry standard, and ensures excellent, reliable durability on the road, at home or in the studio.
New updates for extra versatility
Whilst the Iron Horse V2 resembles the original, some of the updates added make it incredibly flexible and expand its portfolio of available tones. With the recreated distortion control range, lower gain distortion tones are even more accessible thanks to a smoothness provided by the updates. Capable of searing high-gain tones, the V2 is also perfect for lower gain dirt. What’s more, this pedal also features a stable output, eliminating unintended volume jumps - this is thanks to the adjustment of the level control, making dialling in unity gain significantly easier, which is perfect when you’re flipping clip-modes. On top of this, the tone control now has an extended treble range, so you have plenty top-end on tap for any situation. It also allows you to increase/decrease high-end frequencies.
