Ibanez and the metal band Korn have been in collaboration for many years and produced a wide range of signature guitars and basses. This is the fourth Fieldy signature bass guitar and features specifications designed for an effortless playing experience and clarity of tone; even when playing the lowest of low-tuned riffs and the heaviest styles of music.
Active pickups and EQ
The K5 includes Ibanez's own IBZ ADX5N active pickups to create bright, high output tones for chunky basslines. The pickups are wired to a 3-band EQ with sweep-able mid-control, giving you the ability to fully sculpt your tonal output. The active circuit ensures a bright top-end with a full bass range, designed to reproduce the powerful string resonance that Korn's music requires. The sweep-able mid control ensures that you can have total mastery over your mid-range; whether that be adding extra punch or cutting the mid frequencies to achieve the scooped metal sound that Fieldy prefers.
Resonant tonewoods and comfortable playability
The Fieldy K5 is a lightweight, comfortable, gigging machine and it will allow you to put in an energetic performance without holding you back. The body is constructed from mahogany, giving a solid and resonant core tone. The maple and walnut neck assists with brightness sustain, while the 5-piece design creates the strength required to support heavier string gauges and lower tunings with great tuning stability. The K5's asymmetric double cutaway is heavily contoured and allows easy access to the high frets. The neck features a comfortable profile and a 305mm radius to ensure easy fretwork across all 5 strings.
