The Fender Yuri Shishkov Masterbuilt ‘50s Telecaster Relic is constructed using carefully selected, industry standard tonewoods – this instrument provides a truly glorious natural sound. Every element of a custom shop guitar is carefully selected to ensure playing perfection - and the wood used to build the guitar is one of the most important ingredients in the recipe. Featuring a 2-piece select ash body that holds a magnificent resonance as well as guaranteeing a tonal warmth that excels in the mid-high range, at both high and low outputs.
The neck is made from flat sawn maple, delivering a sturdy performance that will withstand even the most intense sessions. It also brings a clarity and brightness to the tone that thrives with a high-end sparkle, perfect for those lead and solo parts. The fingerboard is also maple, and provides a supremely comfortable playing feel that softens the sound and delivers a balanced performance.
Yuriy Shishkov is well known as one of Fender’s greatest ever guitar engineers, with two decades of experience working in the Custom Shop. Born and raised in Soviet Belarus, Yuriy built his very own guitar workshop in the cellar of his home, in which he would construct electric guitars with stunning craftmanship considering the limited materials at his disposal. Upon moving to Chicago in 1990, he began to build up a repertoire and was soon crafting guitars for the likes of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Paul Stanley and more. Yuriy became famed for his intricate inlay and carving work, working to include incredible detail in his instrument’s aesthetics for a unique visual feel every time.
