The Esquire tale begins in the 1950s, being the first solid-body offering from Fender. Soon after its release, Fender revealed a two-pickup variant that they named the Broadcaster, but when Gretsch requested they remove the name due to their drum kit already claiming the title, Fender changed the name to Telecaster. As a result of this, the Esquire took a backseat to its flashy younger sibling, but for years it was beloved by country artists due to its top-end capabilities with increased treble, or twang, simplicity in function, and the one pick-up design that brings a charm and aesthetic not achievable with any other model. Now Fender and Brad Paisley have evolved the historic country icon once more.
In the neck position of the Brad Paisley Esquire is a secret weapon that adds extra tonal versatility but doesn't take away from the lovable, aggressive vibe of an Esquire. Hidden beneath the pickguard is the Seymour Duncan Brad Paisley Secret Agent that delivers you tone from the full vibration of the strings without restricting them via magnetic influence like on a standard Esquire model, picking up every nuance of your finger-picking, chords, or solos. The Paisley Esquire is light and extremely playable thanks to its super-lightweight Paulownia body wood. Paulownia wood is not only lighter than standard woods, for those longer sets or studio sessions, it's also a lot more resonant giving you a more full represented tone, and when combined with the custom pickups, but you're also given a tone that is rich, characterful and can work with any song or track you're wanting to play on whether its full chords or blazing solos.
