Crunch on tap. Amplifier distortion is usually powered at high voltages and this helps give the distinctive breakup that so many pedals attempt to recreate. The Radial Tonebone TriMode 12ax7 Tube Distortion Pedal gets a head start on the competition by being powered at 15v. Having a real vacuum tube and starving the voltage gives all the dirt and warmth of a valve amp, along with the additional harmonic overtones generated, giving you a full sound. This extra power and clever starve-plate design for the 12ax7 tube give the TriMode an edge on the competition and make this the most authentic-sounding amp distortion in pedal form.

Deluxe Distortion

The two channels offer radically different distortion options. Channel 1 has a brighter, creamier sound (though by using the sliding switches this can quickly be altered) which make it ideal for chord-based, rhythm playing. Switch over to channel 2 for a beefier, thicker distortion palette with more prominence in the mids that is better suited to lead playing. Whichever you're seeking (including sheer versatility), the TriMode will meet your needs (and then some!)

Tailoring your distortion

Spoiled for choice. With seven knobs, three sliding switches and two toggle switches, the Radial Tonebone Plexitube 12ax7 Tube Distortion Pedal lets you delve deep into distortion customization. Through the knobs you can set output level for each channel, bass and treble levels, gain for each channel, and a filter to adjust your sound to best fit the amp profile. The sliding switches then grant advanced control over treble response, drive gain, and even the frequency the mid boost occurs at- 7dB or 12dB. Finally, the 2 footswitches control effect on/off and toggling between channels.

Another handy feature is the FX loop integrated into channel 2. This allows for other external pedals to be activated/deactivated at the same time then the channel is selected. No more dancing trying to get everything engaged in time with this intuitive design. True bypass also means no matter how dirty you want to run the pedal, cranking the gain won't affect your tone once the pedal is turned off.
