Key Features
The Pearl Stavecraft 14" x 6.5" Makha Snare Drum is a thunderous beast of a snare drum. Do you think you can handle it? The 25mm thick, two layered maple stave shell offers exceptional volume with wide dynamics that work well in both the studio and on stage. The maple construction adds great resonance and warmth to the unbelievable attack from the stave design method. The hand-rubbed maple shell also provides a stunning, natural aesthetic that looks smart on any stage.
The Stavecraft snare uses DadoLoc joints, rather than glue to secure the shell together. This provides added resonance and natural tone to the drum. The Pearl Stavecraft Snare Drum is fitted with MasterCast die-cast hoops, providing a powerful tone and a flat, comfortable playing surface. If you're looking for a powerful leader for the stage or studio, look no further than the Pearl Stavecraft 14" x 6.5" Makha Snare Drum.

Stave shells are built in a similar way to a barrel. The wood pieces are vertical with bevelled edges arranged to form a circle. The staves are usually glued and then clamped together and lathed to achieve a smooth, round shell. Stave shells tend to offer a short sustain with a higher fundamental pitch.
Maple is renowned for its versatile, powerful sound. It contains boosted lows with high frequencies to make it work in almost any drumming style. Maple shells offer a more even sound and a warmer, more resonant tone. This kind of tone works great with a wide range of music. Maple also has excellent aesthetic qualities. Shells crafted from maple wood tend to have a pristine and polished look, which looks stunning with any finish.
DadoLoc joints are one of the strongest joints used in woodwork. They are made from a three-sided channel, cut across the grain of one wood piece. A second piece simply slots into the cut. This prevents the need of glue, which can reduce the level of natural resonance and tone to the drum.
The MasterCast Die-cast hoops have more density and are more consistent in shape than triple-flanged hoops, which are manufactured by bending metal plates. These hoops make tuning more consistent and easier to achieve because the tension bolts always contact the hoop properly. Drums fitted with die-cast hoops also offer crisper attack, clear and resonant highs, and much more powerful rim shots.
The Pearl StaveCraft Snare Drum is also fitted with Swivel tube lugs. These lugs offer minimal contact and low mass. This allows the drums to vibrate freely for ultimate resonance. STL Lugs feature a swivel nut that keeps the tension rods perfectly aligned to provide accurate and precise tuning.
45-Degree bearing edges are a very common cut. They feature a sharp 1-ply thick edge which peaks close to the outside of the shell. These bearing edges produce more attack and sustain, resulting in a generally more-lively, 'modern' sound. The added attack and sustain are due to less of the drumhead film being in contact with the shell. Additionally, a sharp 45-degree edge also produces considerably more harmonic overtones, making the drum sound much brighter.
