The USA Broadkaster is a revamped version of the original kit used from the 1920's through to the 50's. A kit that defined what was meant by 'That Great Gretsch Sound'. The new Broadkaster sticks to its roots, producing a fat, 'full' vintage sound that adds distinguished character to your mix.
Classic shell design
Gretsch have long been innovators in shell design and bearing edge cuts. To achieve that classic, vintage sound, the Broadkaster incorporates 3-ply shells and reverse roundover bearing edges. These shells are made from a special formula of maple / poplar / maple, with an interior-ply scarf joint for shell reinforcement.
Specially cut bearing edges
The reverse roundover bearing edge is a special cut used by Gretsch to ensure an increased amount of surface contact between the drum head and bearing edge. The result is a much more sensitive response and 'full', punchy tone from your drums. Accompanied by '302' hoops which provide further clarity and focused tone, while being lighter weight than typical die-cast hoops so the drums can resonate more freely.
