An Iconic Pre-Amp for Guitars

The SansAmp PSA pre-amp has only been modded once in its whole lifespan, which was only to add new hardware features, showing its ability to stand the test of time and as remain one of the leading pre-amps for guitars and bass. Its warm, all analogue signal path, combined with digital recall, delivers incredible tonal enhancements for stage and studio, offering 49 factory presets of renown vintage and modern tube amp sounds to choose from. With 77 memory locations for players to save their favour settings, the Tech 21 PSA-1.1 also allows direct recording to tape. The Rackmount Guitar Pre-Amp can be used for a wide range of applications in the studio, from adding little touches to instruments to enhancing existing tracks in mixdowns. In live situations, the SansAmp PSA-1.1 can be used as a standard pre-amp, a ‘’monster direct box’’ to P.A. System, or an outboard processor.

Powerful Controls, Simple layout

The Tech 21 PSA-1.1 is equipped with a range of powerful controls in a simple layout, ensuring players can easily dial in the perfect sound for any situation. The pre-amp control can be used to adjust the PSA-1.1’s input sensitivity, and features an after burner zone which actives a low-cut/hi-boost function which adds more definition to individual notes, perfect for high gain tones. The selection of character controls provide excellent flexibility in tonal adjustments, with the buzz and punch controls adjusting the low end and midrange breakup and overdrive. Use the crunch control to bring out the upper harmonics and pick attack, and dial in the drive to increase the level of power amp distortion. A simple 2-band EQ offers control over the low and high frequencies, while the trim control offers quick adjustments to all settings.

Excellent connectivity

The Rackmount Guitar Pre-Amp is equipped with a selection of inputs and outputs to ensure the PSA-1.1 seamlessly integrates with existing rigs and setups. Its universal output section ensures all the pre-amp’s outputs can be used with full range and limited range systems, while its MIDI in and thru/out allows the PSA-1.1 to be integrated with MIDI controllers and rigs. Both jack and XLR outputs feature an output level switch, allowing players to flick between the standard 0db line output and -10db instrument output levels. The Tech 21 Pre-Amp is equipped with an FX loop to allow players to add their favourite effects processors. The FX loop also features a mix 50/50 switch, which sends half of the PSA-1.1’s signal though the effects processor, and the other half directly through the outputs.
