Key Features
Designed using AKG's decades of knowledge, the Perception 170 mics are general all-purpose small-diaphragm mics bringing AKG studio quality to the worlds of recording, live sound and broadcasting.
The cardioid polar pattern means the Perception 170 is most sensitive to sounds arriving from infront of it, without picking up sounds arriving from monitors or neigbouring instruments, making it ideal for on stage and recording use.
The gold-sputtered diaphragm is made of plastic foil that is gold-sputtered on one side which prevents shorting to the back electrode even at extremely high sound pressure levels.
Capable of handling sound pressure levels up to 155 dB without introducing perceptible distortion and build to resist high temperatures and humidity, the Perception 170 will give excellent results in a wide range of applications.
The all-metal body adds to the rejection of RF interference so you can use the microphone near transmitter stations and along with wireless mics or other communications equipment. The rugged, heavy body and sturdy front grille protect the mic from damage from tough handling on stage.
The microphone pairs are selected from a large quantity of individual microphones to create matched pairs ensuring stunning and convincing stereo recordings. Typical applications range from ensemble recording, drums and acoustic instruments to A/B and X/Y stereo miking.
