Expanding its list of modules; the ZOIA Euroburo now includes a new Sampler (beta) section, which allows you to record and stereo WAV files (16-bit/48kHz). This opens up a new world of sound design options, allowing you to incorporate your own custom samples; chop up found sounds and even play around with existing samples.
Not only that, but the new firmware version also includes a new 'Logic Gate' which has been added to the CV control group of modules. Using the new module, you can perform logical operations using the CV inputs including AND, OR, NOT, NOR, NAND, XOR and XNOR. Last but not least, you can also import/export single patches to an SD card for added flexibility. Lots of bug fixes are also included - for a full tutorial on how to update your firmware click here.
The ZOIA Euroburo offers over 80 modules including envelopes, CV switches, slew limiters and CV loopers. These can be combined and edited in almost every way imaginable to create a sound unique to you. Whether you’re looking for an effect, looper or standalone synth, the ZOIA Euroburo has the feature set to perform.
As the module has been reimagined for modular systems, there have been some changes to the original effects pedal design. Firstly, four assignable CV in and four assignable CV out jacks have replaced the three foot switches. Also included are stereo 3.5mm in and outs and 3.5mm MIDI ins and outs. Another addition, that is sure to prove popular, is the dedicated sample player module that allows you to save and load samples to and from the SD card. This makes it easy to capture and load patches quickly for live performances.
Thanks to the huge range of features and effects achievable with the ZOIA Euroburo, there will always be space for the module within Eurorack systems. Alternatively, Empress Effects have created an optional (not included) enclosure to use the modular as a standalone desktop unit.
The Empress Effects ZOIA was a hugely popular effects pedal, offering a self-contained modular synth in stompbox format. Empress have since developed the ZOIA Euroburo, which turns the unit into a digital modular synth module. The core of the ZOIA Euroburo retains qualities from the original pedal. A powerful audio processor runs the shows beneath the hood with a grid of RGB providing precise controls on the front panel.
