Resonator-equipped steel guitars occupy a special place in musical instrument history. Essentially designed as far back as the 1920's to offer increased levels of volume before the era of guitar amplification even began, their unique construction and sound, unmistakable tone and fabulous looks have ensured continued interest throughout the decades since.
Originally known as 'ampliphonic resonator' guitars, they feature large but light weight internal speakers with cones made from spun aluminium housed in the guitar bodies, projecting the sound in the way of an actual speaker unit.
