Ibanez SR bass guitars are designed to offer the ultimate blend of stylish aesthetics, fast playability, comfortable performance, and versatile tones. The SR400EQM epitomises this list of requirements, and it delivers the thoroughly professional playing experience that modern players require.
The SR400EQM's thin neck sits comfortably in the left hand and enables the most challenging playing techniques. The body is crafted in the SR body design and has a deep double cutaway and low-profile neck joint to allow effortless access to all 24 frets. The SR400EQM's body also has sleek contours and a lightweight feel which guarantees player-comfort during longer playing sessions.
24 frets give each string a full 2-octave range and means you can tackle any playing style, whether that be low-range riffing, intricate chordal work, or fast-paced soloing; the SR400EQM can handle it all.
The SR400EQM is loaded with PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups. These devices give a strong output but not at the expense of frequency balance. They can provide a strong high frequency response along with a low-end grunt required for low-range riffing. The result is a tone that is rich in detail and harmonic content. Mounted in the bridge and middle positions, the PowerSpan pickups can utilise the biting bridge-position sound and the mellow neck-position tone, or any blend of the two sounds.
The SR400EQM is loaded with a 3-band active EQ that takes the PowerSpan pickup tone to the next level. Along with a radical scope for on-board tonal sculpting, the electronics feature a special 3-way Power Tap Switch which enables you to split the dual coil pickups into their single coil constituents.
The Power Tap switch can select different parts of the PowerSpan pickups to use in the signal, including a single coil, full humbucker, and a special Power Tap Mode that blends the two sounds together. These three options give you the clarity and nuance of a single coil, the power and grunt of a humbucker, and a balanced Power Tap mode with a fat bottom-end and clarity created by blending single coil and humbucker properties.
These on-board electronics provide a huge range of potential tones and make the SR400EQM a versatile instrument with the capability of covering any genre. This is the ideal studio tool, or the perfect bass guitar for musicians who play in multiple genres and with different playing styles.
A mahogany body gives the SR400EQM a core tonal signature of warmth and resonance. The SR body shape ensures a lightweight feel, while the smooth contours guarantee a comfortable playing experience whether stood up or sat down. The neck is crafted from maple and walnut for a bright tone. Constructed in 5 pieces, the neck has excellent stability which enhances the guitar's resonance and tuning stability.
The SR400EQM is loaded with an Accu-cast B300 bridge which firmly locks the strings to the body for optimum vibration transfer. This bridge also provides complete adjustment over string action and intonation, so you'll be able to get the perfect setup for easy playability with accurate tuning across the neck. The SR400EQM also has a specially recessed jack socket input that enables you to loop the cable over your strap when stood up and keeps the cable out of the way when playing sat down.
