During the filming for the 1968 TV Special, "Elvis", a 1968 Red Hagstrom Viking II was borrowed for use by Elvis in several segments of the show including a stand up performance in front of a live crowd. The guitar through the years has been mistaken as his and often referred to as the "Elvis guitar". The guitar in fact belonged to Al Casey, who was one of the session players on that show.
During the recent Hagstrom renaissance the Hagstrom Viking II was once again put into production as is presented here in Cream Red. The body has been crafted from Basswood and utilises a bolt-on Maple neck, it has Hagstrom's signature Resinator fretboard and the neck also has their H-type truss rod design.
The pick-ups are hum-buckers - namely Hagstrom H90 Nickel Covered. The bridge is a long travel tune-o-matic model with a stop bar tail piece, each pick-up has its own tone and volume control and a 3 way toggle switch manages the pick-up selection.
