The Player Series Jazz Bass features a lightweight alder body to produce balanced, resonant tones with plenty of clarity and midrange bite, ideal for the versatile musician. The alder tonewood provides a decent amount of sustain, creating bright, sizzling highs, beautifully rounded lows, and a beefy midrange. Fender have used alder as their tonewood of choice since the 1950s, as the balanced response and slight upper middle definition makes it perfect for rock and blues playing.
The addition of a maple neck provides the overall tone with a bright characteristic, tightening up the sound and giving it plenty of cut. The maple delivers a powerfully sharp punch when the strings are hit hard, whilst still retaining its clarity to allow each note to sing. The pau ferro fingerboard offers the same fundamental tones as a rosewood fingerboard, 'furring' up the maple's harsh edges for a sparkling, sizzling high-end and thick, firm low-end. The modern ''C'' profile is designed for an incredibly comfortable playing experience, allowing the hand to fully cup the neck and deliver a smooth performance.
The Jazz Bass is equipped with a range of high-quality components, delivering a professional grade performance to players on a budget. Its set of player series single-coil pickups are infused with the soul of Fender, offering all the classic tones associated with many musical legends. Independent volume controls and master tone provides excellent tone shaping capabilities, allowing players to dial in the perfect tone for their playing style. The addition of a synthetic bone nut increases the overall resonance and brightness of the tone, while its standard open-gear tuners and bridge improves tuning stability and adds to the Jazz Bass’ classic aesthetic.
Introduced in 1960, Fender welcomed a new decade by debuting a deluxe bass guitar, the Jazz Bass. Sleek and supercharged with dual pickups, a slim neck and a curvaceous offset waist, the Jazz Bass has ruled the world of electric bass ever since Fender first introduced it. The versatile and unmistakable tone, effortless feel and performance make the Jazz Bass the number-one choice for professional bassists worldwide.
