Incorporating powerful EMG 81 and 85 humbucking pickups, the Dean MAB1 provides a sharp attack and a beefy rhythm tone when in the 81 bridge position, and a warm and dynamic tonality when in the 85 neck position, thanks to the close aperture coils and ceramic magnets. The additional SA single coil in the middle position means that the DEAN MAB1 can be used to create a variety of tones via the 5-way pickup switch. EMG pickups are favoured by many professional musicians due to their unbeatable tone, active circuitry, high output and low noise.
The Dean Michael Batio MAB1 is designed for the ultimate in speed and playability. It includes many unique neck specifications to allow you reach the highest speeds with ease. It features a trio of EMG pickups to give you and versatile powerful tones, alongside a Floyd Rose double locking tremolo for accurate tuning stability, even after extreme whammy-bar use. This is an instrument made to stand out from the crowd and offer an ultra fast-playing feel.
Michael Angelo Batio took influence from the classical guitar when he specified his MAB1 guitar. he neck is mounted to the body with no breaking angle to offer easier playability. The neck is very thin and features a slightly rounded profile which, like a classical guitar, offers unhindered access to all six strings and is designed to perfectly facilitate a "thumb-behind-the neck" technique. The fingerboard is ebony for great articulation, and includes 24 jumbo frets with a modern 12" radius. This gives you greater control over string bends and vibrato, whilst providing a flat surface to allow for a low action and faster string-crossing for the right hand.
For many years Floyd Rose has been the leading manufacturer and designer of floating, locking tremolos. With a design that has stood strong for over 30 years the Floyd Rose locking tremolo allows you to adjust the string tension and pitch with the removable whammy bar to create unique sounds such as dive bombs. Unlike non-locking tremolos, the Floyd Rose bridge can allow for extreme whammy-bar use whilst still returning the strings to pitch accurately.
