Celebrating 2013 as 'The Year of Les Paul', Gibson is releasing a new series of decade-dedicated Tribute SGs honouring the artistry and innovation of Les Paul. The SG '70s Tribute captures the heavy rock look, feel and legendary tone of the SG Standards of the '70s with a characteristic '70s neck profile and a pair of high-output humbucking pickups for unparalleled overdrive tones.

View Full DescriptionThe body of each SG Standard starts with a foundation of solid mahogany tonewood shaped into a thin asymmetrical style, recognisable as an icon due to its doublecut 'horns' and beveled edges which provide playing comfort.
The neck of the '70s Tribute is made from solid mahogany and glued into the body in Gibson's time-tested tradition. Carved into a characteristic medium '70s profile, the neck also features period-correct volute to strengthen the back-angled headstock.
The warm, rich and responsive tone from Rosewood makes it the perfect fingerboard material. Offering clear and tight bass projection without overshadowing sparkling midrange or trebles, the 24 medium-jumbo frets are adorned with trapezoidal inlays, echoing the look of the '70s SG Standard. In keeping with the stripped-down ethos, there is no pickguard and both body and fingerboard remain unbound.
The Ebony vintage gloss finish gives the '70s Tribute an appearance in keeping with its history. The nitrocellulose lacquer produces a finish that breathes with the guitar and enhances natural resonance, encouraging a purer tone.
Firepower is provided by a pair of Gibson's mighty Dirty Fingers humbucking pickups, a legendary component of '70s Rock and among the two hottest pickups ever designed by Gibson. The Dirty Fingers include powerful ceramic magnets and over-wound coils for a sound that's sizzling and sustainful whilst remaining clear and accurate.
Independent volume controls and tone controls are used for each pickup and a three-way toggle switch pickup selector also features along with a set of genuine Grover kidney button tuners.
The '70s Tribute is the perfect celebration of the SG's evolution into the age of heavy rock.
