Key Features
Product Ref: 67245
The Gibson B.B. King Lucille features a new gold B.B. King engraved truss rod cover, gold Grover Tulip tuners, a full block inlay fretboard and 490R and 490T humbucker pickups which are slightly overwound to give a traditional Humbucker tone with a touch of modern edge. Following B.B.'s own preference this guitar features no F-holes in its semi hollow body, a 6 way Varitone switch for the usual 335 versatility, stereo output which can run each pickup separately and a TP-6 tailpiece for fine tuning in seconds.
The soundwaves resonate within the hollow airspace of the Maple veneered body and throughout the solid glue joints to produce a strong, full tone. The wood, construction, and headstock pitch all contribute greatly to the tone, aiding this guitar's exceptional sustain and depth, and yielding a resonance that can be felt right through the body. The pickups are slightly overwound to give a traditional humbucker tone with a touch of modern edge.
Hailed as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, B.B. King gave the name "Lucille" to his guitars throughout his career. As one of the most influential blues musicians of all time, B.B. King is often referred to as "The King of Blues". His customised Gibson ES-335 was first launched in 1980 and this is the latest incarnation.
"When I sing, I play in my mind; the minute I stop singing orally, I start to sing by playing Lucille."
