The Fender California Villager is a merge of two iconic Fender guitar styles that symbolise the free-spirited attitudes of the '60s. Originally released in 1965, the California Villager has a traditional dreadnought body and an electric guitar neck, hinting at both folk/country/rock 'n' roll music and surf/pop electric guitar styles. With its distinct looks and playing experience, you'll definitely make your mark with the Villager.
The California Villager 12 String has many design touches from the '60 including a checkerboard rosette, 3-ply gold pickguard, flared "Viking" bridge and a distinct hockey stick headstock. The maple electric-guitar neck provides a unique playing experience unlike any other 12-string acoustic guitar. Here you have a distinct juxtaposition of acoustic and electric guitars in one unique instrument.
The California Villager has a solid spruce top mounted on a mahogany body. This gives a bright overall tonality with solid projection. The spruce top is supported with scalloped X bracing for enhanced resonance and responsiveness. The maple neck provides additional bright overtones and provides a unique playing feel.
The single cutaway allows easy access along the whole fingerboard, while the electric guitar neck sits comfortably in the left hand and should make electric guitar players feel right at home. The 12-strings provide a particularly 'wide' sound, giving depth and thickness of sound to strummed parts and fingerpicking.
The Villager has a Fishman ISYS III pickup/preamp system with a 3-band EQ to sculpt your tone, as well as a built-in tuner for making quick tuning adjustments during your performance. This pickup system brings the California Villager right up to date from its 1965 roots, meaning you'll have an instrument that will work equally well acoustically as it will on stage or in the studio.
