1952 was a big year for the Telecaster, celebrating a year after it was first conceived and growing popular amongst players. The Tele featured a fat ‘U’ shaped neck profile and a weighted feel, mimicking the thick and heavy tones it produced. The butterscotch blonde finish also made its debut on the 52 models, since the original blonde models began to turn brown-ish or butterscotch over a period of time due to the lacquer they used.
The American Vintage ’52 Telecaster features a solid ash wood body, delivering the classic Fender twang with sweet, airy tones. The lightweight ash provides the guitar with excellent resonance and sustain, offering firm lows, pleasing highs, and a scooped midrange. The ’52 Tele is also fitted with a vintage-style string-though bridge, delivering incredibly stable strings while improving sustain and resonance.
The guitar's solid maple neck and fingerboard provides the Telecaster with its beautifully bright characteristics, tightening up the guitar's sound and giving it plenty of cut. The maple delivers a powerfully sharp punch when the strings are hit hard whilst still retaining its clarity, allowing each note to sing. The neck and fingerboard work together to provide the guitar with sizzling highs and firm lows, while its midrange features a snappy attack.
A set of specifically voiced ’52 America Vintage pickups provide the Fender Tele with its incredible sound, designed to the original specs of the 1952 model for a truly period correct voice. These pickups have been meticulously studied and carefully constructed to ensure players are offered amazing tonal possibilities. Featuring a volume and tone control, players can dial in and create a range of beautiful soundscapes to suit a wide range of musical styles.
Along with its amazing tone and looks, the American Vintage guitar also features a bone nut, adding to its classic aesthetic. The main purpose of using a bone nut compared to modern materials is the bone offers excellent resonance and sustain. A bone nut also delivers a very balanced tone, and will last a long time. In addition, this type of nut naturally self-lubricates and helps the guitar to stay in tune for longer.
The American Vintage series of guitars takes classic Fender models from key years between the mid-50s and 60s and gives them a new lease of life. These exciting models delve deep into Fender's roots, displaying real vintage accuracy. With original tooling dies, newly voiced pickups and reformulated vintage colours based on the actual period models, Fender have brought a series of guitars that have all the class and style of the originals matched with the best of modern day technology.
