The Mayfair 5-String Banjo is a beautifully designed recreation of the historic first generation masterpiece from the 1920’s that helped make the ‘’House of Stathopoulo’’ one of the premier instrument makers. The Epiphone banjo features a historic Mayfair inlay design on the back, a traditional headstock design, ‘’c’’ shape neck, and ‘’clamshell’’ design tailpiece, and classic ‘’snowflake’’ fingerboard inlays. The headstock also features a perfect recreation of the era’s Mayfair logo with an iconic Epiphone banner logo.
Back in the 1920s, when the founder of Epiphone Epi Stathopoulo was working hard to bring his business to the thriving musical scene of Manhattan, Jazz had become the defining music of the time. As the banjo was the main rhythm instrument of jazz bands, Epi worked hard to deliver a banjo that would stand above the rest which resulted in his line of modern banjos that quickly became the industry standard. The Epiphone Mayfair embodies this design, delivering the same full tonal range, great intonation, craftsmanship, and ornate designs. The mahogany resonator and Remo head produce classic tones, with plenty of attack and clarity. Its traditional ''C'' shaped neck provides a smooth play, and with dual coordinator rods, offer a full and even intonation across the entire neck.
