The Dean AXS Dreadnought features a stunning spruce top, offering crisp articulation and a broad dynamic range. Spruce is the most commonly used wood for guitar tops as it generates a versatile sound and accommodates numerous playing styles. The wood itself is quite elastic in nature, which resonates well whilst remaining strong, and provides a focused, clear sound of deep lows, warm mid-range, and bright sparkling highs. The spruce top is coupled with mahogany back and sides which adds a characterised warmth to its brightly toned spruce top. Used as back and side panels the mahogany delivers a meaty mid-range, producing punchy, woody tones with plenty of depth and complexity that will please most playing styles.
The AXS's neck is crafted from mahogany which provides a strong and durable neck and great resonance. The reason why many guitar necks are built from mahogany is because the wood responds greatly to different styles of play, from fingerpicking to strumming, with equal ease. The neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that delivers a bright, warm, sparkly tone that really shines through when using fingerpicking techniques. The rosewood fingerboard also provides a smooth and energetic playing experience and features pearl dot fingerboard markers for added elegance.
The Dean AXS features a dreadnought body shape, which produces an enormous voice, and maintains overall tonal balance. The big body is ideal for players with a longer reach, and those more comfortable with the dreadnought size. The sheer volume the AXS can project makes it ideal for the singer-songwriter, as vocalists can really push their diaphragm to the max and not feel too loud against the guitar's volume, as it will sing as loud as you do. The AXS also features a Venetian cutaway, that allows players to reach more challenging chords higher up the fingerboard.
The AXS Dreadnought comes equipped with a Dean 7545R on-board preamp, perfect for gigging musicians. This preamp features slider switches for bass, mid, treble, presence, and a rotary control for volume.
