Key Features
Remaining as true to tone as ever, the singlecut '56 Dan Bass takes the original U-series single cutaway bodyshape that we first saw in the mid 50's and makes it cooler than ever with a Silvertone dolphin nose headstock shape. Adding to the retro vibe is the 56's enclosed plastic button tuners and Aqua finish with Satin Nickel hardware.
The twin alnico-powered Lipstick case pickups have warmer spec windings which offer sweeter tones and slightly hotter output, inspired by the Lipstick pickups first added to guitars by Danelectro founder Nathan Daniel in 1947. Pearloid dot inlays on the rosewood fingerboard compliment the satin nickel hardware and a unique 'D' logo features on the tinted scratchplate.
Easy to play with a 30 inch short-scale neck, the '56 Bass suits most styles from Pop and Indie through to Rockabilly and Punk with its own distinctive sound.
"The addition of period details such as the ressurected headstock designs and more modern hardware updates such as humbucking pickups, adds to the desirability of these latest models. The superb playability and the tone from those beefed-up Alnico pickups is the icing on the cake. Figure in the price and we reckon it's worth adding some Lipstick to your tonal makeup."
- Ed Mitchell, Guitarist Magazine
"If you don't want to look or sound like every other bassist on the block, the Danelectro '56 is a fantastic buy. Not only does it have the looks, but a great deal of playability and tone."
- Nick Wells, Bass Guitar Magazine
"These Danelectros are a heap of fun to play, and they sound mighty fine too. The '56 is a great roots-and-fifths machine."
- Gareth Morgan, Guitar and Bass Magazine
