The thing that sets the A-49 apart from conventional keyboard MIDI controllers is the integrated D-Beam controller. This custom-designed technology has been incorporated in some of Roland’s most revered synthesizers, samplers and workstations. This unique controller allows you to manipulate sound with your hands via a built-in infrared beam. The infrared beam senses your hand movement at a height of up to 15-inches. Similar to that of a theremin, this unique control allows you to manipulate sound with hands-on control.
The Roland A-49 is compatible with virtually any machine, from PC to Mac and even the iPad. The rear of the keyboard features a recessed panel with connections, for ergonomic setups with computer monitors and laptops. It comes jam-packed with buttons and controls for optimising your workflow. In addition to the D-Beam controller, the A-49 features two knobs and two stiches which you can assign to various settings within your DAW.
Dedicated octave and transpose buttons allow you the adjust the scale and octaves of your keybed for auditioning sounds. The integrated LED indicators provide quick and easy visual feedback for the octave/transpose settings. A ‘Function’ button is also included which allows you to perform a range of additional tasks printed above the keyboard. The A-49 also comes complete with Ableton Live Lite, allowing you to get started straight out of the box.
The compact and lightweight design makes the A-49 highly portable. The keyboard controller weighs only 2.5kg, making it perfect for taking with you, anywhere you go. From live performances to transporting it to different studios, the A-49 is built for the road. It is also powered by USB bus, eliminating the need for a power supply.
