The Sensory Percussion drum sensors are sleek, durable and sensitive. They are designed to work on almost any snare, tom, or kick drum and function on both acoustic and mesh heads. They pick up the signal from the drumhead via a small sticker (pickup element) applied directly to the surface of the drumhead and offer 10 sensor zones per sensor, per drum. Speed, velocity and timbre are accurately tracked with every stroke in order to make even the craziest effects possible such as a soft hit emitting one sound and a harder hit emitting another. Despite their sleek design, the sensors are still well and truly situated in the landing zone, that's why they are made to be extremely durable for the accidental, but inevitable stick hits from time to time. The sensors can even be used to change lighting effects on stage, significantly enhancing each and every performance. After a short calibration, the sensors are ready to go and they also learn your drumming patterns, habits and unique playing technique to ensure the very best sound output at all times.
The Portal Audio Interface makes cable routing and sound mapping for each drum incredibly easy. It has seven plug-and-play sensor inputs for a frictionless setup, as well as two combo XLR mic/line inputs, two line-ins, and multiple output channels, allowing it to also be used as a standalone high-quality audio interface for recording and live sound. 5-pin MIDI and an 8-channel ADAT are just some of the outputs fitted to the interface and if that wasn't enough, the line-in and aux-out channels come with phantom power for equipment that needs a little boost. Also designed with durability and reliability in mind, the Portal Audio Interface is capable of withstanding the brutality of life on the road and having your back through every performance and recording session.
Incorporating powerful Sunhouse™ software, a purpose-built Portal Audio Interface and remarkably accurate sensors, the Sensory Percussion Sound System can transform any acoustic drum or drum set into an infinitely customizable tool for musical exploration. With a perpetually expanding library of sounds and the ability to combine flexible digital control with the expressiveness of acoustic drums, there is virtually no limit to what's possible with Sensory Percussion.
A completely redesigned workflow has been applied to the software to make it a lot more drummer-friendly and stress-free to use. Compatible with macOS and Windows, the software is easy to install and get up and running at a moment's notice. The software comes full of various sound packs from effects to soothing melodies and of course, the ability to create your own custom sound for your next big hit. Not sure where to start? Boot up Play View to get a feel for the sensors and their limitless capabilities before diving into Edit View and exploring the virtual toolbox of the very best DAW editing features. The fun doesn't stop there, as the Sunhouse™ software is ever expanding and updating with the latest and greatest sounds and usability to give you the best sensory experience imaginable.
Evans has ensured every type of drummer can easily use and apply the Sensory Percussion System to their drumming. It appeals to cutting-edge drummers who enjoy exploring new ways of pushing the boundaries of drums, practice players who want to make practising drums quiet and exciting, hybrid drummers looking to add electronic sounds to their drum set, producers seeking distinctive drum sounds, and content creators looking to showcase eye-catching musicality.
'' Finally, an e-drum concept that goes beyond a neighbour-friendly substitute. An instrument that puts the focus back on the exploration and creativity.''
'' The Sensory Percussion software encourages the user to think in terms of musical ideas like harmony and melody, which makes it feel less like a series of samplers grouped by a drum.''
