Steel is loud, yet sensitive and responsive, giving a larger dynamic range to the drum. The most notable sound characteristic of steel drum shells is their bright tone, long sustain and penetrating rim shot sound. As well as the attractively finished black steel shell, the snare also features a heavy duty snare strainer, and tunes well at both tight and slack tensions. If rim shots are a big part of your playing style, or you just need your snare to cut through loud music and have a greater dynamic range, a steel-shelled snare drum is certainly recommended.
Die Cast Hoops
The WHD Snare Drum features high quality die cast hoops, which give an acoustic evenness right across the surface of the snare drum. As well as that, the overall tone of the snare is improved. On top of that Remo skins have been added to the drum to create the perfect resonance and tone.
