The Pearl Session Studio Select 4pc 22'' Shell Pack, Piano Black features a 22'' x 16'' bass drum, a 10'' x 7'' rack tom, a 12'' x 8'' rack tom and a 16'' x 16'' floor tom. This shell pack is constructed of a thin, 5.4mm EvenPly Six combination of Master-grade Birch and African Mahogany. The Birch wood produces enhanced low and high-range tones, mixing perfectly with the mid-range tones of mahogany to offer crisp lows, a warm, punchy mid-range and bright, musical highs.
The shells are finished with high-quality hardware, such as Pearl SuperHoops II tom hoops, wooden bass drum hoops and Pearl low-contact lugs. View Full DescriptionOptiMount Suspension System maximises resonance
The Pearl Session Studio Shell Pack features Pearl's renowned OptiMount suspension system on all of the toms. This mounting system does not make any contact with the shell itself; instead it mounts to the lugs, ensuring maximum resonance and brilliant sustain. Rubber isolators at all connection points prevent any muting and allow the shell to fully resonate, whilst providing a sturdy hold and very little movement throughout playing.
SuperHoop II tom hoops provide easy tuning
The Pearl Session Studio Select use Pearl's extensively designed and developed SuperHoops. These hoops are precision formed from heavy duty 2.3mm steel and offer perfect rim shots and cross-stick tones that aren't obtainable on normal drum hoops. Being triple-flanged, they allow the head to vibrate freely for a great open sound. The hoops ensure optimal resonance and articulation, as well as making tuning, and the holding of that tuning, easy.
Bearing edges increase volume
The outer 60-degree bearing edges increase volume and punch without adding harsh overtones to the sound. The controlled punch of Pearl’s fresh 60-degree bearing edge delivers a blend of pre-EQ’d clarity and tonal warmth, whilst still enhancing projection and tonal clarity.
Superior Shell Technology (SST)
Each shell is carefully manufactured to achieve the ultimate air chamber. The shell materials are milled to precise thicknesses with overlapping scarf joint seams to create an air-tight fit. The plies are saturated together using Pearl's AcoustiGlue that dries to the same consistency as the wood for maximum resonance. At the end of the process, the shells are shaped in high-temperature moulds with 1000 PSI of hydraulic pressure. You can rest assured each shell is formed to perfection, giving you the purest tone and maximum shell strength.
