The Alesis Nitro kit is considerably versatile in it’s connectivity, featuring an AUX input, allowing connections from an MP3 player, CD player and many other devices that can go directly into the AUX input jack. This is ideal for any players who would like to jam along to their favourite artists, backing tracks or your own original music. The Alesis Nitro kit also includes a USB/MIDI connection which opens up the possibility of using the kit as a MIDI controller with virtual instruments and recording software, allowing you to record professional drum-tracks into your DAW or manipulate the sounds already found within the kit. As well as having a standard headphone connection for personal practice, you can also connect any active speaker to this using either the mono or stereo outs on the back of the module, meaning the Nitro can be taken to your next gig, set up and ran directly in stereo into the PA.
If you’d rather use the playalong tracks in the module than connect your own device, you have 60 built directly into the module. Not only does this offer an eclectic amount of tracks and styles you may not have considered playing along to before, but it also allows you to record along to be stored for later use. The Nitro kit features a built-in sequencer, metronome and performance recorder for added versatility.
Rubber pads and cymbals are at the centre of the Alesis Nitro kit, which create a natural feel, as well as give a realistic stick response when struck. The 8 inch drums provide pads large enough to have an easy and dynamic striking surface, with the 10 inch cymbals offering a similarly active feel, with each section of the cymbal giving it’s own distinct sound, much like an acoustic counterpart. The cymbal height is fully adjustable thanks to the rack design, meaning you can adapt and tailor the kit to your preference. The kick drum trigger is also used with a kick drum pedal, meaning you’re able to get the realistic feel of a kick pedal, whilst using your own preferred kick pedal brand.
