With a solid cedar top, the Art Deco delivers a rich, smooth, and warm tonal character. Its solid cedar top is highly responsive to light playing and fingerpicking techniques, as well as responding with volume to a player's softer attack. The solid cedar top is accompanied by solid mahogany back and sides which provides the Art Deco with a great punch, resonance, and a woody tonal character that offers definition and a rich dark warmth. This sonically pleasing combination of tonewoods can accommodate numerous different genres, but is well-suited to fingerpicking styles and folk-inspired genres.
Constructed from mahogany, the Art Deco's neck produces plenty of resonance as well as providing a stable, and durable playing experience. Mahogany is commonly used to craft guitar necks, as the wood responds greatly many different styles of play and will accommodate numerous techniques with ease. To provide a comfortable playing experience, the neck features a C shaped profile, providing players with a better grip for long hours of comfortable play. Its neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that produces a warm, bright, sizzling-sparkle that really shines through when using fingerpicking techniques. Its rosewood fingerboard also provides a smooth and energetic play, and is sprinkled with mother of pearl inlays for added beauty.
The Luna Art Deco features a grand auditorium body shape, which offers a versatile and comfortable playing experience. The grand auditorium is as equally suited to fingerpicking as it is to strumming. However its solid cedar top is especially well-suited to fingerpicking styles, meaning the tone produced will offer a beautifully melodic sound and will respond beautifully to folk and fingerpicking genres. The Luna Art Deco is ideal for those that find the dreadnought shape a little too much to handle, and struggle with the size of bigger bodied guitars. Although the shape is not as big as the dreadnought and jumbo sized guitars, the grand auditorium provides great projection and volume.
The Luna Art Deco features a B-Band T55 preamp, which offers basic sound tweaking for live and rehearsal environments. Its B-Band preamp has rotary controls for bass, treble, middle, presence, notch, and volume. With these controls players are able to shape their sound to personal preference. Being equipped with B-Band electronics, the Art Deco is ideal for the gigging guitarist, and comes with the added convenience of an on-board tuner. The on-board chromatic tuner, has a bright, easy-readable LED screen that makes tuning up/down easy, even within the darkest of venues and rehearsal environments.
Yvonne Villiers is an accomplished stained-glass artist who envisioned Luna guitars. Her inspiration for a line of guitars designed to maximise playing comfort came from her mother, Hilda Villiers, a bassist for over 40 years. Whilst watching her mum on stage, Yvonne couldn't help but notice the massive struggle her mum had whilst playing. With her mum being petite and using such a heavy instrument, she used to complain of how hard it was to be a woman and try to play these big bass guitars.
Yvonne then questioned if there were others like her mum that struggled with the same problems and pains. She came up with the idea of a woman specific guitar, uniquely tailored to fit their bodies, their hands, and their musical styles. Yvonne moved on to created Luna guitars, a line of guitars made for female musicians of all ages and crafted with luminous visual beauty to engage women's minds and spirits along with their talent.
Yvonne already had brilliant artistic skills and use of colour, she then applied the same techniques as she did with her award winning stained glass work to her new line of guitars. She is known for using rich colours that shimmer and shine with every movement providing an eye-catching design along with the great musical tones Luna guitars deliver. Yvonne's design expertise has led so many men to respond to Luna's well-crafted, spirit-engaging instruments that the company now creates guitars for both female and male musicians of all ages.
